We are seeking a talented PowerBuilder Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise applications. This role involves maintaining and enhancing software built using PowerBuilder 2022 and Sybase Anywhere 2017, integrating APIs to extend functionality, migrating legacy systems, and supporting business-critical licensing and lending platforms.

We are seeking a talented PowerBuilder Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise applications. This role involves maintaining and enhancing software built using PowerBuilder 2022 and Sybase Anywhere 2017, integrating APIs to extend functionality, migrating legacy systems, and supporting business-critical licensing and lending platforms.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PowerBuilder development, database programming, system analysis, and API integration, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain loan lending management applications using PowerBuilder 2022 and Sybase Anywhere 2017.
- Lead integration of third-party APIs to expand application features and performance.
- Migrate and modernize legacy applications from PowerBuilder 12.5 to 12.6, enhancing existing municipal licensing systems using SQL Server 2012.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Owners to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical solutions.
- Perform end-to-end system improvements including database schema changes, stored procedures, triggers, and PowerBuilder UI updates.
- Maintain and optimize enterprise software through bug fixes, performance tuning, and new feature implementation.
- Utilize GitHub and SourceTree for source control and repository management.
- Document code changes and system enhancements in JIRA, following Agile best practices and sprint cycles.
- Coordinate system enhancement priorities and backlog grooming with analysts and stakeholders.
- Conduct integration reviews, unit testing, and automate regression tests using modern toolsets.
- Provide support during production deployment and monitor system operations for anomalies or downtime.
- Deliver high-quality, well-documented code with strong alignment to company standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (experience in lieu of degree acceptable).
- 5-7+ years of PowerBuilder development experience (v12.6 or later, including v2022).
- Strong database experience with Sybase, SQL Server, or Oracle.
- Proven experience integrating applications using REST/SOAP APIs.
- Proficiency in C#, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, and Unix Shell scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, JIRA, Confluence, and software lifecycle tools.
- Experience in Business Process Improvement and Preventive Maintenance methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with enterprise-scale systems and multi-site IS operations.
- Knowledge of modern DevOps tools like Bamboo, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with EDI and clinical process systems a huge plus.
