Senior Data Quality Engineer/Analyst 
Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced, self-driven and motivated Senior/Lead Data Quality/Data Governance Technical Analyst  Engineer/Analyst with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in formulating Data Quality & Data Governance Frameworks with associated experience in operationalizing.   Must have solid end-end understanding of all facets of Data Quality & Data Governance including Data Availability, Business Data Quality, Metadata/Knowledge Management and Data Lineage. Must be a hands-on self-starter with ability to think out-of-the-box to take new information and help formulate solutions appropriate for CarMax as part of an agile team that is looking at redefine and innovate to drive Data Governance thru the lends of Data Quality.  Familiarity working with functional areas to create Critical Data Elements and associated data quality rules, monitoring, including alerts and Issue Management.  Excellent opportunity for a Data innovator who can learn quickly, from a business and technical perspective, think strategically while implementing tactical with an analytic mindset as we are pursuing a differentiated Data Quality & Data Governance strategy which is focused on a “Data Offense” mindset driven by tangible business results and not by regulatory/policy concerns. 


 
Responsibilities:
  • Understand existing Industry best practices for Data Quality but question and modify them for Client and be willing to think out-of-box to drive innovation in Data Quality.  Stay informed with the latest trends in the overall Data Quality landscape. 
  • Work with business partners, governance peers, project teams, and leaders to gather and understand functional requirements that support the development of business-impact-driven initiatives and projects, and support agile projects plans for execution using operationalized capabilities, resources, and tools.
  • Demonstrates expertise in Data Quality and Data Governance and serve as an evangelist for enterprise deployment and adoption following established communication and PR strategies for Data Quality & Governance that tell compelling stories that generate advocacy for Data Quality/data governance across the enterprise.
  • Develop and deliver relevant and appropriate training materials and practices that can be delivered enterprise.
  • Work on extremely complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Create and maintain PowerPoint slides/deck around the metrics (dashboards, charts, graphs, commentary).
  • Document/Track data issues, work with stakeholders to confirm.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and customers with an agile business-driven mindset to build effective partnership across organization.
  • Work in an agile environment and be open to change based on changing priorities.
  • Write SQL Queries to perform Data Analysis to support DQ issue Data resolution.
  • Able to use MS Office to document lineage, Business & Technical Data Flows


 
Experience Required:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Quality/Data Governance Senior Technical Analyst/Lead or similar role focused on operationalizing concepts.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Possess a solid understanding of data management concepts and principles.
  • Utilize strong SQL skills to write complex queries for data profiling and analysis.
  • Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges.
  • Experience with one or more quality tools and/or DG tools such as Informatica IDQ,, Collibra, Alation, or IBM IGC/Information Analyzer.
  • Strong Microsoft office products skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong understanding of data quality framework and data life cycle management standards.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, and proven communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and customers.
