Senior Software Developer – UI Specialist

 

Requirements
  • Knowledge of responsive design and mobile-first design principles
  • Familiarity with interpreting and implementing design mockups.
  • Ability to advocate for and apply user-centered design.
  • Collaborate well with both designers and developers.
  • Experience in HTML/CSS/JavaScript using Web Forms and MVC
  • Experience with and knowledge of C#
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to mentor other developers within the organization.
  • Contract-to-hire with a hybrid work schedule of 2 days in office

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Figma or similar design tools.
  • Experience with and knowledge of jQuery
  • Working in a Scrum Team using Azure DevOps Boards
  • Automated unit and integration testing
  • Exposure to CI/CD preferably in Azure Pipelines
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • WCF and WebAPI Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management of information systems.

Candidate Background
  • Prefer software development experience with a retirement plan provider, financial services company, or insurance provider.

What You Will Do
  • Front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Define UI architecture, including adding to and maintaining a UI Component Library and documentation.
  • Perform UI/UX design reviews.
  • Perform code reviews.
  • Work with new and legacy applications and adapt the latest UI standards to work for each.
  • Update the UI across several applications to deliver a common user experience.
  • Utilize Visual Studio IDE, Git source control, and Azure DevOps Services to complete work.

Opportunities Include
  • Primarily working in the UI layer with exposure to other full-stack layers
  • Interact regularly with a broad range of developers, IT Services engineers, and various line-of-business end-users.
  • Help modernize our application portfolio through continuous improvement initiatives.

Interview Process/ Timeline
  • 1) Initial 30-minute interview, 2) Technical 1-hour interview, 3) 45-minute Managerial interview
  • Initial and Technical interviews will be video. Managerial interview will be on-site.

  • Target for Enterprise Programs or Retirement Scrum Team
  • Average tenure across IT division is 12+ years.

Notes from the call with the hiring manager:
  • 2 open positions for this team.
  • Reorganizing, trying to realign applications to scale better.
  • They have multiple applications that have different UIs and they want to make them all look similar.
  • Previously, they tried to make each application unique
  • Full stack experience would be nice but not a requirement
  • This work will mostly on the front-end side of things
  • Enterprise program, this will be a new team with a current lead of UI.
  • We still have some legacy tech, WebForms, MVC, (nice to have this legacy background)
  • If you don’t have these, but you have strong CSS, JavaScript, and UI focused experience, and are open to the Microsoft, then the hiring manager will consider you.
  • Visual Studio, nice to have
  • Server-side processing; not moving to React or Angular yet
  • These hires will have input on direction and best practices to take
  • 2 days of on-site work per week
  • Can work a 9/80 work schedule (work 9 hours each day and get every other Friday off), or regular 40 hour work weeks
