Technical Program Manager
Bravotech a leader in IT staffing and staff augmentation services, seeks an immediate contract to perm role for a preferred client in the North Houston, Texas area for a Technical Program Manager. The Technical Program Manager (TPM) owns cross-team product delivery execution and the delivery roadmap using SAFe. This role coordinates delivery across Product, Engineering, Architecture, QA, DevOps, Security, Sales, and Customer Success to deliver predictable, high-quality releases for modular industrial SaaS platform.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Delivery Roadmap
• Lead end-to-end delivery of multi-team technical programs across one or more Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
• Own the delivery roadmap (PI and release plan), aligning scope, milestones, and sequencing to business priorities and customer commitments.
• Manage scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, and technical constraints; drive timely decisions and tradeoffs with leadership.
SAFe Execution and Facilitation
• Plan and facilitate SAFe events: PI Planning (prep and execution), ART syncs/Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, Inspect and Adapt, and release readiness.
• Partner with Product Management, System Architects, and Engineering leaders to maintain flow and delivery predictability.
• Track and resolve cross-team dependencies and impediments; maintain a single source of truth for delivery dates, scope, and risks.
Agile Coaching and Mentoring
• Coach teams on Agile best practices: Definition of Ready/Done, story slicing, estimation hygiene, WIP control, and actionable retrospectives.
• Standardize delivery practices and templates across teams to improve consistency, quality, and execution speed.
Technical Oversight
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering to understand designs, tradeoffs, and delivery impacts; surface integration and architectural risks early.
• Ensure non-functional requirements are planned and delivered (security, performance, scalability, reliability, observability).
• Translate technical complexity into clear, actionable plans for business and executive stakeholders.
Stakeholder and Communication Management
• Coordinate with Sales on pilots, demos, and date-driven commitments; validate feasibility and communicate tradeoffs early.
• Coordinate with Customer Success on onboarding, training, support readiness, and adoption; ensure releases are operationally ready.
• Provide executive-ready reporting: status, milestones, risks, dependencies, and release readiness.
Metrics, Risk, and Continuous Improvement
• Define and track program-level metrics (PI objectives, predictability, delivery health, dependency risk, release quality).
• Own RAID management; proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues; escalate with options.
• Drive continuous improvement through Inspect and Adapt outcomes and data-driven actions.
Success Measures
• PI objectives met and predictability improved across release cycles.
• Reduced carryover and unplanned work; stable throughput and fewer late surprises.
• Lower escaped defects and smoother releases with clear enablement and support readiness.
• Faster pilot onboarding and time-to-value with measurable outcomes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5-10+ years of experience in technical program management, delivery management, or engineering leadership.
• Hands-on experience delivering in a SAFe environment supporting ARTs (PI Planning, dependency management, release coordination).
• Strong understanding of SDLC, cloud platforms, and modern engineering practices.
• Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional technology initiatives with clear communication.
Preferred Qualifications
• SAFe certification (SAFe Agilist, SAFe Program Consultant, SAFe RTE, or SAFe Product Manager/Product Owner).
• Experience in regulated or audit-heavy environments.
